Hi all,  we're setting up a new (and much more user friendly) community forums to help us gather all of the great feedback we have been getting on The New BatchBook (see my blog post at http://blog.batchblue.com/the-new-batchbook/)  I'll be sending more updates in the future, but just wanted to get the conversation started.

Share here if you have any thoughts on the overall functionality of BB2 (as we affectionately call our new baby).

I can't wait to see this new version!
  • I have many hopes for the new version and would be more than willing to put it through the wringer when its ready for testing.

    Hi Pam,

Will the upcoming new Batchbook version allow users to notify
other team members via email when they post comments &/or
    replies?

I am having a hard time getting team members to communicate via
Batchbook Comments because it's currently a PASSIVE SYSTEM.

I cannot rely on my team to 1) login to Batchbook every day and
then 2) check through all the comments posted by everyone else in
order to find the one comment that may be relevant to them. Even
if/when the person replies, nobody else knows unless we all go back
to step 1.  Also, we don't use feed readers, etc, we use old school email on BB, iPhone & Android.

The current static comment setup is a formula for
inaction/failure.  All this information gets input in Batchbook but nobody knows unless you drill down and dig in.  But you could turn this into a dynamic
communication tool that will encourage user adoption and usage of
batchbook by giving users a tool to selectively notify/communicate w/ other users.

*** (Giving users the option to reply to comments via email
would be icing on the cupcake)

    Tks

    Ben

PS: I just posted this on the old forum and re-posted here after seeing the notice about the old forum closing

    Hello Pamela,
I saw your blog comment "it will probably not be this year".
One thing what is important for us to know for planning: MailChimp sync.
Will there be a sync option to handle MailChimp groups (different groups in one MailChimp list)?
We have very detailed customer profiles in BB. SuperTags including checkboxes.
Example: SuperTag "tour operator", checkboxes "city breaks", "winter activities", "round trips".
In MailChimp we will create in our "tour operator" list groups like "city breaks", "winter activities", "round trips" to send very targeted information for example only to "city breaks" specialists.
I hope you understand what I try to explain.
Does BB checkbox information sync with MC groups in the future?
    Thanks,
    Jan

I am just wondering when we are going to here more about this update?
  • pamoharapamohara October 2011
Hey all,  sorry for the delayed response.  I was monitoring the wrong thread here - so missed your questions.  Not to mention we have been pretty heads down working on the new product.

Ben, we are doing some additional e-mail notifications in the new system, though comments is not currently on that list.  I'll see what I can do.  For now, you can also use the RSS feed - there are a few tools for having a feed pushed out to e-mails.

Jan,  yes, the MailCHimp integration is a major overhaul.  I'm working on that one personally with the MailChimp team as well as our own and it does include a sync of groups.  One thing to mention - we're not recommending that you maintain your entire MailCHimp list in Batchbook - since they do have good options for doing the segmenting on their end.  This integration is more about seeing who the most engaged newsletter readers are and bringing them over to Batchbook for some additional follow-ups & connections.  That make sense?

    Admin, uhm, now. :)

Oh boy, not this year? I really do miss the Mailchimp integration. The sync option just isn't it. So, the sooner you can get this fixed or improved the better. Next year is really to late!

Hey Tom - I know, I'm super eager on this, as well.  I've worn a hole in the floor behind the development team pacing back and forth checking the progress.  But, as they've mentioned, you can't rush excellence (or did they say petulance?) :)

I promise we will have the best product on the market as soon as humanly possible.  Thanks for the patience!

Are any improvements coming to the ability to comment and the activity stream?  We moved to Batchbook from BantamLive.  One of the most powerful features of BantamLive was the ability to collaborate with co-workers via comments on contacts, deals, events, etc... and then comment on that comment.  It created a collaborative activity stream.

Podio also does this well today.

Here is a specific use case:  I coach clients and work with them to solve various problems each week.  What I would love to have in Batchbook is a way to record my coaching call notes as a comment (can do this today).  Then attach files to that comment.  And ask co-workers to review that comment and also provide any insights they have into working the issue in that comment.

    Thoughts?

    Hi rwalcott,

That is a really great question!  As Pamela mentioned earlier, she's looking comments and email notification ideas.  For the meantime however, there is one thing that may help you out.

If you create a tag in your account (and please note - these are all examples, you can use whatever tag or list names you'd like here) named "team feedback" and apply that tag to communications that you create where you'd like to get some feedback from the rest of your team.

You can then use that tag, along with the record created date, and record type - to pull in all communications created in the last X number of days, that have your "team feedback" tag on them.  The list will look something like this: http://screencast.com/t/0WFrnAJz.  Maybe you can (cleverly) name it Team Feedback List.

Now go to your Dashboard, and turn on the Lists View widget.  This will allow your team to select the "Team Feedback List" from the drop down, and they can see all of the new communications that you're looking for some feedback on.  They can make comments on the communication, and you will then be able to check it to see who came up with what idea.

Since we can't email these updates... you can (if you want) use tags to replicate "sending a message" to someone.  For example, your "Team Feedback" tag is sending the communication to the list you created.  You can have a second tag named "feedback provided" that people can apply to the communication once they leave some feedback on it.  Then if you create a second list of communications that are tagged "feedback provided", you can select that list from your list view widget on the dash to see if you have any communications that you should review!  Once you've reviewed the comment on the communication, you can remove the "feedback provided" tag to get it off your list, or leave it there if you'd like to review it again later.

I hope this helps you out some!  If you have any questions about how to do any of this, please just let us know!  Also feel free to live chat with us via the "Contact Support" button over on the bottom right hand side of this page.  If we have a rep available, we'd love to chat with you!

  • I've just purchased Batchbook, to be used in collaboration with Freshbooks. I chose it because I could understand the User Interface, and it was both simple and flexible.

My other choice was something called Highrise. It had nice pictures and it had one feature that I really liked. It was called "cases" and it allowed you to stick various persons, communications, notes and such into what you might simply call a project file folder, and you could see these things on a single screen.

I chose Batchbook because it had better freshbooks integration, a little better price, and it was more compact, plus your tags and supertags are superb. Would there be any benefit to adding a functionality like "cases" to your CRM?  Or is there a simple way to get equivalent functionality, and I'm just too new to see it?

I'd be grateful for any feedback about this, thank you so much!

    Hi,
I'm new and there are times when I want to send out many emails with a personal feel and don't want to use MailChimp. I don't find bulk emailing capability, or email templates. If this is truly not a feature, PLEASE add it. Don't other people in sales want to send bulk emails that look informal?
    Thanks!
    Carol

  • Hi, Carol,

The fine for *one* spam under the CAN-SPAM law is $10,000. Ulp! If you were wrongly accused, you could probably beat it, but think how many hours lost and how much business interrupted, wrestling with the gubbamint.

So I'd rather send out through a professional mail-management company. Any trouble, I've got pros on my side.

Sending through a professional mail-management company feels better to me ... just in case.

How about sync/link tasks to ToodleDo? It's a powerful, feature-rich task manager, that would play nicely with BatchBook, I think.

    Warmly,

  • Just a polite question born out my own impatience.

What is the latest on the New Batchbook ?

This thread started in August last year and so far we are not even to beta with the new version?

It's a long time to wait, just sayin'

Same here. I've been waiting for the new batchbook for a while now.....just like I've been waiting for a while for my lists to export. :|
  • Bonjour!

We have a personal chef service in Boston called Le Chef Mobile. I've been an ACT user for many years, but after 3 laptops crashing and having to rebuild the database, I've decided to go online. ACT has some very useful shortcuts that could really save time here. For example, CTRL S = Save, CTRL C = Copy, CTRL V = Paste. I think these are standards in the industry, at least on the Windows Side, some work for the MAC too. Your save buttons are always at the bottom of the screen, so I have to scroll down to save each field. Plus, I have to save in several different locations, which I didn't know at first, so I created an entire list, and didn't hit "Add under the comments," so didn't have any comments in my entire list. ACT also has a feature that when you move to a new record, it automatically saves the current record! This would save a LOT of time.
CTRL N = a new record in ACT, so this would be helpful too in quickly adding new contacts.

Within the data side, I had this problem with ACT and still have it here. I work with couples--so need to be able to search both names. It doesn't make sense to make a 2-person company as there's too much other info in a company I don't need. So right now, I'm just adding the 2nd name in the notes, and it seems to pick it up. If you're building up a comprehensive profile, what about kids' names, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. All these are very useful sales tools for me (I do realize I can create tags for these fields as well).

Also, I'm not really using super tags, because they're not searchable using simple search. If I have to remember what is a super tag and what isn't in order to search it, that doesn't work for me. So I just use tags.

I also hope you're going to be interfacing soon with Constant Contact for email newsletters as they are far and above the best email newsletter company around.

Great job on making this tool work thus far, and I look forward to new improvements.
